Technology Initiatives for Development in partnership with the Association of Student Journalists’ of the University of Buea just concluded a workshop on “Harnessing Graphic Designing for Entrepreneurial Success in Contemporary Journalism.”
This workshop brought together students of the three levels of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication on Saturday 04 November with the aim of empowering them with skills that will help them better communicate as well as enable them to embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship.
The training featured a lecture on “Basic Design Principles and Composition” and a live demonstration on designing with CANVA an online graphic design tool. This was followed by a practical session which enabled the students to get hands-on experience with the tool while receiving assistance from several TI4Dev facilitators who were present.
According to the president of ASJUB, Billa Solomon “If you empower people and give them secondary sources of income they can then empower themselves.” This workshop is in line with one of TI4Dev’s principal missions of facilitating knowledge transfer and capacity building.
